Our living room, the dining area and the hallway is full of antiques which are Mom's collections. The house is a living antique itself. Mom has a collection of antique jars and vases from different parts of the world and vintage paintings from various artists.
I don't know what's with these old stuff but she has always been fascinated with vintage things. Even the chandelier in our dining room is an antique making the area eerie.
I don't have anything against my Mom or any other antique collectors. I was just curious about the people who spends a lot just to purchase something which is already generations older. I mean, yeah, people are sentimental in nature and collecting stuff which are centuries older may be their way of appreciating our ancestors. Antiques are the remaining evidences of the past civilizations and their culture. But dude, most antique items are way expensive than the latest MP3s and laptops. Well, technocrats like me would rather spend on such things which can be used in my daily living. However, it's such so sad that that while time p***** by, the value of techie gadgets depreciate while antiques increases.
So ironic. The older the item is, the more expensive it will get you. We are not rich but my Mom always does everything in order for her to purchase an item. It's like addiction you know. Sometimes it comes to my mind that selling all her collections will make us instant rich! Haha! Kidding Mom. I better go and find more sources for my essay paper about these antiques.
Oh and by the way, last night, I went to my parent's room and guess what I saw, an Eli Youngband CD. I think it was my Dad's. I didn't know he listens to Eli's music.
